SHORT BIOS

Hany Moustapha, Professor and Director, Innovation 4.0 Hub and Aerospace 4.0TM .Siemens’ Chair on Industry 4.0 Technology Integration. Pratt & Whitney Canada Senior Research Fellow .With P&WC from 1978 to 2010, he was Senior Manager of Technology from 1999 to 2009 and was named Senior Research Fellow in 2011.He is the Canadian industry member of NATO. He is Adjunct Professor at Carleton University (Canada) and Rzeszow University (Poland), as well as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (U.S.A.). He is an active member of committees within the CRIAQ and Aero Montreal. He is the founder of the Montreal Aerospace Institute and a co-founder of CRIAQ. He is a Fellow of the ASME, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute and the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering. He is the author and co-author of over 100 publications and two books on gas turbines. He is the recipient of 30 national and international awards since 1980, including: Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Québec (2013), James C. Floyd Award AIAC (2012), CASI Senior McCurdy Award (2008), ADRIQ Prix Carrière industrielle (2007), etc.

 

Kim Khoa Nguyen is Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and the founder of the IoT and Cloud Computing Laboratory at the University of Quebec’s Ecole de technologie supérieure, Montreal, Canada. In the past, he served as CTO of Inocybe Technologies (now is Kontron Canada), a world’s leading company in software-defined networking (SDN) solutions. He was the architect of the Canarie’s GreenStar Network and also involved in establishing CSA/IEEE standards for green ICT. He has led R&D in large-scale projects with Ericsson, Ciena, Telus, InterDigital, and Ultra Electronics. He is the recipient of Microsoft Azure Global IoT Contest Award 2017, and Ciena’s Aspirational Prize 2018. He is the author of more than 130 publications (50 journals), and holds several industrial patents. His expertise includes network optimization, cloud computing, IoT, big data, machine learning, AI, smart building, smart city, high speed networks, and green ICT.

 

Grant Challenger is the Director of Edge Computing.  As part of the Service Provider and Edge Business Unit he is responsible for global go to market functions for Edge Computing and Edge Solutions.  Grant works with customers and partners to achieve their business goals through collaboration and innovation.  As an integral part of the product team this collaboration enables VMware to build solutions that customers need.Grant has been a leader as an intrapreneur or entrepreneur in the software industry for the past 30 years.  He has been a founder of three venture backed startups and facilitated the launching of many software solutions for industry segments such as Financial Services, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Telco/SP and others.  Grant joined VMware in of 2013 to help launch vSAN as a founding member of the go to market team.  In his career he has focused on unique technological advances that transform business.He believes in bringing value to every engagement with a humble but get things done perspective.  Doing the right thing matters.  Respecting the key tenet that all people want to succeed and be recognized for their achievements.

 

Emrah Gultekin. Co-Founder and CEO.  Emrah has over 20 years of entrepreneurial experience and leads day-to-day operations and product development. He has successfully developed and exited 3 companies. He holds a B.A. from Brown University and a MicroMasters from MIT.  He is located in the Bay Area. 

 

 

 

Dr. Yaoyao Fiona Zhao is an Associate Professor and William Dawson Scholar at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in McGill University, in Montreal, Canada. Since Dr. Zhao joined McGill University in 2012, she has established the Additive Design and Manufacturing Laboratory (ADML) which is one of the leading research laboratories in additive manufacturing field. Her research expertise lies in the general field of design and manufacturing including the exploration of new design methods, developing efficient numerical simulation method for additive manufacturing processes, manufacturing informatics, application of machine learning in design and manufacturing, sustainable product development and intelligent manufacturing. Her team is leading the research in Design for Additive Manufacturing with the development of new design methods to achieve multi-functionalities, less part count, better functional and sustainability performance. Her team is also leading the efforts on developing methods and guidelines for manufacturing industry to adopt machine learning and AI as an effective tool for global competition. Dr. Zhao is currently the associate editor for the Journal of Mechanical Design and the Applied Mechanics Reviews Journal. She has received multiple Best/Outstanding paper awards in major design and manufacturing journals and conferences. Other major awards she received include the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Discovery Accelerator Supplement award in 2018, ASME Journal of Mechanical Design “Associate Editor Award” in 2019 and 2020.
